PARIS CROSSING

Charles R. Engel, 95, of Paris Crossing, passed away at 8:25 a.m. on Sunday, February 25, 2018, at his residence.

A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service. Rev. Damon Marling will officiate. A military service and burial will take place at Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday.

Born October 30, 1922, in Paris Crossing, Charles was the son of the late Samuel and Nettie (Smith) Engel. He married Lucy Lafferty on May 6, 1950. She survives.

Charles was a World War II Army Veteran. He had retired from Sears and Roebuck.

He is survived by his wife, Lucy Engel of Paris Crossing; two grandchildren, Sharla (Eric) Todd of North Vernon and Larry (Tamara) Sawyer, Jr. of Paris Crossing; four great-grandchildren, Josh (Jennifer) Sawyer, Leigha (Darin) Briner, Arica and Arin Todd; and three great-great-grandchildren, Brodey, Macey and Max Sawyer.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Nettie Engel; four sisters and ten brothers; and one daughter, Carolyn Dian Sawyer.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Our Hospice of Jennings County.
