CHICOPEE, Mass. — The victim of a fatal car crash in Chicopee over the weekend has been identified as a local man.

Authorities on Sunday identified the victim of the crash just after 7 a.m. Saturday as 42-year-old Eric Lucio.

Police say Lucio lost control of his vehicle, drove off the road and struck a traffic light pole on East Main Street. He was alone in the car at the time and it appears no other vehicles were involved.

Officer Michael Wilk says the crash remains under investigation.

A spokesman for Hampden District Attorney Anthony Gulluni says the office offers sympathies to Lucio’s family.
