ODENTON, Md. — Authorities are investigating the deaths of a husband and wife inside a home in Odenton.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department said in a statement Sunday evening that interviews with witnesses and evidence from the scene indicate the killings were “a targeted incident and not a random act of violence.”

The victims were identified as 55-year-old Charles James Edward Jackson and his wife, 47-year-old Veronique Crystal Jackson.

According to police, a resident of the home called 911 after finding the victims. Officers arrived and found them suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Fire department personnel pronounced them dead.

The statement says several family members have been cooperative with the ongoing investigation.

Autopsies will be completed Monday to determine the cause and manner of death.
