BURLINGTON, N.C. — Police say a man who prevented an attempted 911 call and assaulted a child has been arrested in North Carolina.

Burlington police tell The News & Record in a statement that officers responded at a home Saturday night after a 911 hang-up call and discovered a physical altercation happening inside.

Police say 29-year-old Damar Jamel Wilson prevented a female victim there from trying to call 911, threatened her with a gun and physically assaulted one of her children. Police say Wilson was also keeping her and her children from leaving until officers intervened.

Wilson is jailed in Alamance County on several charges including violation of a domestic violence restraining order, second-degree kidnapping and interfering with 911 emergency communication. It is unclear if he has a lawyer.

Further details weren’t reported.
