Crossroads concert series coming soon

A new music festival that is expected to attract fans from across the region will be April 27 and 28 in downtown Seymour.

Wristbands for the first Crossroads Acoustic Fest are available at crossroadsacousticfest.com. Plans call for the festival to become an annual event.

Modeled after other music festivals around the country, Crossroads will offer an exceptional lineup of singers and songwriters in a quiet “listening room” setting at two or more indoor venues in downtown Seymour.

Shows will be going on simultaneously both nights, and festival-goers will be able to choose which artists they want to see and move freely from one venue to another.

If a listening room reaches capacity, there will be space at another room.

“These are professional touring recording artists — many of them based in Nashville,” said Shawn Busby, committee chairman.

Some of those already on the schedule include Will Kimbrough and Tommy Womack, Levi Parham, Tim Grimm, Alan Rhody and at least two with local roots — Stephanie Lambring and Don Pedigo.

The process of booking additional performers is continuing.

“Some will play both nights, so there will be more than one opportunity to include a particular artist in your schedule,” Busby said.

Performances will run from 6 to 11 p.m. April 27 and from 5 to 11 p.m. April 28.

Early-bird wristbands good for both days are available for $30 through April 2. After that, the cost will be $40. Single-day tickets will not be available, and none will be sold at the door.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit Southern Indiana Center for the Arts in Seymour.

“Seating will be limited, so we encourage everyone to get their tickets early,” Busby said. “If we see that we’re going to have a large turnout, it could enable us to add another venue.”

The live music committee was formed in 2015 as part of Seymour’s Vision 2025 Project and began discussion of plans for a festival event. Working in conjunction with SICA, the group also has hosted several individual singer-songwriter concerts.
