Al passed away at 1:00 a.m. Saturday March 10, 2018 at Community East Hospital, after a tragic medical emergency ended his life. Born in Indianapolis in 1943, he attended Decatur Central Schools, where teachers complimented him for his good grades and excellent citizenship.

After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, being honorably discharged several years later. Al worked as a grill cook at Weir Cook Airport, and also managed several service stations. At the age of 20, he met Valda, the love of his life. They were married happily for 53 years, and she survives.

Al’s dream was to own a real estate company, which he accomplished by founding, Hobein Realty. He was also a licensed Auctioneer at his auction house, Indy Auction, Co. Al became a successful real estate investor in Indianapolis, owning single family rental homes. He was truly happy and fulfilled as a grandfather to Owen, Gage, and Mason. His sons, Eric and Michael were his pride and joy. Also surviving, is his sister-in-law, Vija Strauts, and daughter-in-law, Jody Hobein.

He loved to travel. He and Valda purchased an RV to see the beautiful sights all around America, eating at many different restaurants. Al enjoyed life. He as thankful for his many blessings from God. He loved God, his family, and his country.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Alfred “Al” William Hobein is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 16, 2018 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 7243 E. 10th St, Indianapolis, IN. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time Friday at the church. Entombment will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery Mausoleum, under the direction of Winklepleck & Brock Funeral Home, Brownstown.
