UPDATED at 1:40 p.m.: A search of a home that caught fire this afternoon in Surprise has been completed and no one was found inside it, according to firefighters on the scene.

Hamilton Township firefighters responded to that fire in the 6600 block of North Douglas Avenue at about 12:30 p.m. Thursday.

Firefighters from Pershing Township and Brownstown fire departments also have been called to the scene along with personnel from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department and Jackson County Emergency Medical Service.

Surprise is located west on State Road 258, west of Seymour.
