Hoosiers advance to WNIT championship

Indiana University’s women’s basketball team defeated TCU 71-58 at Sim Skjodt Assembly Hall on Wednesday to advance to the WNIT finals.

The Hoosiers (22-14) trailed 14-13 at the end of one quarter before coming back to lead 32-28 at halftime.

After holding the Horned Frogs to 12 points in the third quarter to hold on to a 51-40 advantage, the Hoosiers closed the game by outscoring TCU 20-18.

A total of 7,815 fans attended the semifinals game, which proved to be the most in more than a decade and fourth most for a women’s game all-time at IU.

Tyra Bus led the Hoosiers with 22 points and Amanda Cahill had 14. Buss and Cahill set a career wins record for a class with 81.

The Hoosiers, coached by Seymour native Teri Moren, will host Virginia Tech on Saturday at Assembly Hall at 3 p.m. Virginia Tech defeated West Virginia 64-61 on Wednesday.

The game will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network.
