NORTH VERNON
Judy Ann (Speer) Taylor, 71, of North Vernon, passed away at 9:55 a.m. on Monday, March 26, 2018 at Lutheran Community Home in Seymour.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on April 7, 2018 at First United Methodist Church in North Vernon. Rev. Marvin Sweet and Rev. Joe Wyatt will officiate. A gathering of friends and relatives will take place immediately following the service at the church. Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service was entrusted with the arrangements.
Born September 30, 1946 at Seymour Hospital, Judy was the first of three daughters born to G. Wayne and Marie (Jones) Speer. Judy attended Vernon School from first grade through her senior year. She was a graduating member of the last class at Vernon High School in 1964. She was a member of the VHS Drum Corp. and Marching Band.
Judy married Roger W. Taylor on February 12, 1965. They were married for 53 years and had two sons, Tim and Toby Taylor.
When Toby started school, Judy started working at the North Vernon Nursery School as a teacher’s aide. When she retired from the nursery school in 2008, she owned the business. Judy had a special love for children and was the first teacher for nearly 2,000 three and four-year-old students.
Judy is survived by her mother, Marie Speer of Columbus; her husband, Roger Taylor of North Vernon; two sons, Tim (Susan) Taylor of North Vernon and Toby (Missy) Taylor of Butlerville; one sister, Marsha (Matt) Noblitt of Columbus; one brother-in-law, Derril (Debbie) Taylor of Hanover; and five grandchildren; Alex, Jake, Zach and Sydney Taylor and Lydia Borgman.
She was preceded in death by her father, G. Wayne Speer and her sister, Janet Hanna.
Judy was a cancer survivor for 18 years. She was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2006 and succumbed to complications of the disease. In keeping with her wishes, Judy’s body was donated to the University of Cincinnati Neurological Center.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the American Parkinson Disease Association or donor’s choice of charities.
