CROTHERSVILLE

Danny Joe Collins, 68, of rural Crothersville, IN, passed away at 12:41 AM on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital in North Vernon, IN.

Born December 24, 1949 in Huntington, West Virginia. He was the son of Billie Bob Collins and L. Marie (Alexander) Collins, who are both deceased. Danny was a 1967 graduate of South Point High School in Ohio and attended an electric technical school in Kentucky. He worked as a communication engineer for the telephone company and for the former Spectra Energy, retiring in 2005. He was a member of Cana United Methodist Church. Danny loved to cook on the grill, enjoyed looking at seed catalogs, ordering seeds, and using them for his produce gardens.

On August 30, 2014, he married Darlene K. (Helwig) Collins, who survives in rural Crothersville, IN.

Other survivors include, 1 daughter, Cheryl (Robert) Collins Baker of Middletown, OH, 1 son, Shannon Joe Collins of TX, 3 step-children, Ginger M. Campbell, Christina M. Rogers, and Thomas S. Beeching, all of Hartford City, IN, a step-father, John (Joyce Cole) Godby of Seymour, IN, 8 grandchildren and 2 great- grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Angela M. Collins and a step-son, Micheal R. Campbell.

Pastor Brynen Chitwood will conduct funeral services at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 7, 2018at Adams Family Funeral Homes & Crematory in Crothersville, with burial to follow at Cana Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Adams Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Crothersville.
