Celebrate Crothersville’s history at fundraiser

0

April is Crothersville History Month.

In celebration, a fundraiser will be conducted at 6 p.m. Friday at Hamacher Hall, 111 E. Howard St., Crothersville. The dinner will feature a chicken breast, peas, parslied potatoes, biscuits and pie. The cost is $15 per person.

The entertainment will be provided by Larry Wayt, a folk singer who was born and raised in Freetown and now lives near Richmond. He plays simple acoustic music and sings songs of the cowboys, Civil War, Appalachia, gospel, railroad and others. He remembers sitting on his grandparents’ porch where evenings were often filled with telling stories and singing songs. He performs at events throughout the tri-state area.

For information or reservations, call Linda Seals at 812-521-3695 or Brenda Holzworth at 812-793-2760. Reservations will be needed for this event.

Events are sponsored by the Crothersville Historical and Cultural Arts Association, which exists to encourage understanding of and participation in local history and cultural arts for area residents. Contributions are welcome and are tax-deductible. Funds raised are used for maintenance and improvements to the buildings. Hamacher Hall has a handicap-accessible ramp.
