Postseason softball schedules released
INDIANAPOLIS — The IHSAA released the 2018 softball sectional schedules on Sunday evening.
The tournament will run from May 21-26.
Jeffersonville and New Albany will open Sectional 15 play at Bedford North Lawrence, with the host school playing Jennings County to follow. The winners of the opening games will play each other, with the winner of Seymour-Floyd Central playing in the other semifinals bracket.
At Sectional 30, hosted by Corydon Central, the hosts face Charlestown, North Harrison plays ilver Ceek and Salem takes on Scottsburg. Brownstown Central will play the winner of Corydon-Charlestown, and the victors of the second and third games squaring off on that same day in the semis.
In Sectional 61, at West Washington, Orleans will play Trinity Lutheran and West Washington faces Crothersville. The championship game will pit the winners of the opening games against each other.
Times and dates of the sectional games are to be determined.
Regional games will be held on May 29 and the semistates will go on June 2.
This year’s state finals will be held at Purdue University’s Bittinger Stadium on June 9.
Records Fall as UIndy Wins Seventh Straight GLVC Women’s Golf Title
EUREKA, MO – The University of Indianapolis women’s golf team used a record-setting performance to capture the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships title Sunday, securing an unprecedented seventh consecutive conference crown in the sport. The three-day event was held at Fox Run Golf Club in Eureka, Mo.
The Greyhounds combined for a final-round team score of 287 (-1) to finish at 886, setting new conference marks for lowest 18- and 54-hole scores at the league championship. The team also set a conference record for margin of victory, besting runner-up Missouri-St. Louis by 37 strokes.
All five Hounds finished in the top 10, four earned All-GLVC accolades, while senior Paxton DeHaven, of Seymour, became the first student-athlete since 1999 to earn a second consecutive GLVC individual title.
