A Marion County man without a driver’s license faces a resisting law enforcement by fleeing in a motor vehicle.

The arrest of Adrian David Collins, 35, of Indianapolis on the Level 6 felony charge occurred Saturday night at the end of an 8½-mile pursuit that began in northwestern Jackson County and ended in Marion County, according to a report from county Officer Rick Meyer.

Meyer said the incident that led to the pursuit began as he, county Officer Mitch Ray and Conservation Officer Nate Berry talk Collins while answering a call in the 11000 block of North County Road 1140 in Salt Creek Township.

Meyer said Collins, who was camping in the area with his wife, was told he couldn’t drive because he didn’t have a valid driver’s license. Collins, however, took the keys from his wife, got into their vehicle and fled at a high rate of speed. The ensuing pursuit ended a short time later after Collins turned onto to State Road 446 and pulled over.

He was arrested and taken to the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown and booked in at 10:54 p.m. Saturday. He was being held without bond pending his initial hearing in Jackson Circuit Court.
