Lanes on I-65 reopen following semi fire, crews still cleaning site

Both lanes on I-65 have reopened following a semi trailer fire near the 43-mile-marker early Thursday.

Police warn of slow traffic in the area as crews work to remove the trailer and clean the area, Indiana State Police Sgt. Stephen Wheeles said.

The fire was extinguished and no injuries were reported.

Wheeles said crews will be on the scene for some time.

Indiana State Police was assisted by Crothersville Police Officer JL McElfresh, Jackson County Deputy Rob Henle and Vernon Township Fire Department.

Police are working to clean up a semi trailer fire that occurred early Thursday.

The incident was reported northbound on I-65 near the 43-mile-marker, Indiana State Police Sgt. Stephen Wheeles said.

Wheeles said the right lane has been closed at this time.
