The congregation of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church invites the public to a community hymn festival at 7 p.m. Sept. 14 at the church, 6045 E. State St., Columbus.

John Behnke, who is organist for the event, is an emeritus professor of music at Concordia University in Mequon, Wisconsin, where he taught organ and directed The Alleluia Ringers, the school’s touring handbell choir.

He also is organist at Historic Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in downtown Milwaukee, where he plays on an 1878 Schuelke organ.

Behnke also is a frequent organ recitalist, handbell clinician and festival director. He enjoys composing and arranging, having more than 400 handbell, choral and organ compositions in print with 17 different publishers in the United States, Germany and Taiwan.
