The body of a man found in a lake near Forest Grove Lane in Country Squire Lakes subdivision near North Vernon on Monday night has been identified.

The investigation into the death of Chad Stearns, 30, of North Vernon remains ongoing, but no foul play is suspected, according to a report from Sgt. Stephen Wheeles with the Indiana State Police Versailles Post.

Troopers were called to the lake at 7:30 p.m. Monday about a report of a deceased adult man. An autopsy was performed Tuesday in Seymour to determine the identity of the man and cause of death, Wheeles said. Toxicology results are pending.

The Indiana State Police is being assisted by the Jennings County Sheriff’s Department, Indiana Department of Natural Resources conservation officers and Jennings County Coroner’s Office.

Funeral arrangements are pending with Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon.
