Anyone planning to vote in the Nov. 6 general election who needs to register has until Oct. 9 to do so.

After that day, the next voter registration period won’t begin until Dec. 3.

Applications must be received by the clerk’s office in the courthouse, 111 S. Main St., Brownstown, or be postmarked by Oct. 9.

Absentee or early voting begins Oct. 10 and continues through Nov. 5 in the lobby of the courthouse, while the absentee polling site at Jackson Superior Court I, 1420 Corporate Way, Seymour, will be open from Oct. 22 to Nov. 5.

Weekday hours at the courthouse are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., while weekday hours at superior court are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Hours at both sites will be 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 27 and Nov. 3 and 8 a.m. to noon Nov. 5.

Early voting sites are open to all voters, but on Election Day, voters must go to their original polling location to vote.

A traveling board for absentee voting for those who cannot make it to a polling site will begin at 8 a.m. Oct. 18 and run as needed during courthouse business hours (8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday) until Nov. 5.
