Clark earns conference honor

After recording a league-leading 12.50 assists per set during Ohio Valley Conference opening weekend play, Morehead State volleyball setter Chandler Clark was named OVC Setter of the Week

Clark helped Morehead State to a perfect start to conference play, leading the Eagles to a five-set victory over Jacksonville State and a sweep of Tennessee Tech. On the weekend, the Eagles hit .253 as a team, a total that ranks third in conference-only play.

Clark dished out 100 assists on the week, representing 91 percent of the team’s total assists on the weekend. Her gross assist total ranks second in the league in OVC only games.

To start the weekend, the red shirt sophomore passed out a career-high 60 assists versus Jacksonville State, besting her previous season and career-high 56 against Bradley. In reaching the 60 assist mark, Clark secured the program’s first individual 60 assist games since 2016 when Bailey Nichol reached 60 helpers at Eastern Illinois. She also added 13 digs against the Gamecocks, giving Clark her sixth double-double of the season.

Clark finished the weekend dishing out 40 assists in a three-set victory over Tennessee Tech. The match marked the sixth time she’d reached 40 or more assists and the first time she’d reached the mark in a three-set match.

On the year, Clark leads the Eagles and ranks third in the league with 580 total assists. She also stands second in the OVC with 10.55 assists per set. Through 15 games, Clark has accrued 87 percent of Morehead State’s total assists while also assisting on 82 percent of the team’s total kills.
