Police continue to investigate an off-road vehicle crash Sunday afternoon in the Butlerville area that resulted in the operator sustaining serious injuries to her lower extremities.

Emily Reverman, 20, of Elkhart was driving a Polaris Scrambler when a mechanical failure caused the all-terrain vehicle to lose control and veer off of the roadway into the creek near the intersection of county roads 625N and 750E, according to a report from Conservation Officer Travis A. Stewart.

Reverman was treated at the scene by Jennings County EMS before being taken to St. Vincent Jennings Hospital in North Vernon.

A passenger on the vehicle, Evan Griffin, 22, of Martinsville received minimal injuries.

Neither were wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, Stewart said.

Alcohol and drugs are not considered a factor in the crash, he said.

Officers with the Jennings County Sheriff’s Department assisted with the crash.
