BROWNSTOWN

KaCee Collins stepped up in her final year with the Brownstown Central High School girls golf team.

While she was the Braves’ No. 1 golfer, the team relied on Collins in more than one way.

The program’s only senior, Collins filled a major leadership role.

For all of her efforts this season, the Braves named Collins the team’s Most Valuable Player at their season-ending awards program on Tuesday at the middle school.

Collins earned All-Mid-Southern Conference honors before advancing from the sectional as an individual. At the Washington Regional, Collins shot a career-best 84, shaving off 16-strokes from her former personal best.

The Braves want 9-8 for 9-hole competition and 9-14 in 18-hole tournaments this fall. Overall, the Braves had a record of 18-22.

Brownstown just missed the cut for regional, finishing fourth at the Bedford North Lawrence Sectional at Otis Park.

Collins and sophomore teammate Ashlyn Fox both advanced as individuals to regional. Fox, who also earned All-MSC honorable mention status, shot 105 at regional.

Fox received her letter jacket at the awards program and freshman teammate Lexi Satterthwaite also took home an All-MSC honorable mention plaque.

The mental attitude award went to freshman Payton Ault and junior Ashley Schroer was the most improved.

Brownstown coach Brandon Allman will return almost its entire roster next season.

The Braves have 10 players set to come back next fall. There were five freshmen on this year’s team.
