A 30-year-old Seymour man was arrested Monday for child molesting after he admitted an incident of touching a 13-year-old girl, police said.

Reynaldo Esmerin Reyes-Perdomo was arrested by Indiana State Police and faces a Level 1 felony charge of child molesting.

Seymour police responded to a residence for sexual harassment report at 9:36 p.m. Sunday and discovered the alleged incident had taken place at Cypress Lake on State Road 11 near Interstate 65 outside city limits.

The investigation was then turned over to state police.

Trooper Andrew Mitchell took over the investigation and interviewed a 13-year-old girl and Perdomo.

The girl told investigators about a sexual encounter with Perdomo where he forced himself on her outside a vehicle at Cypress Lake, according to a probable cause affidavit signed by Mitchell.

Perdomo only admitted to sexually touching the girl and told police that “it just kind of happened.”

He told police the touching began as he was driving a vehicle to the lake.

Perdomo also forced the victim to touch him, something he later denied, according to court documents.

Perdomo also admitted to touching the victim during an encounter at a residence in Seymour about a week before the incident at Cypress Lake, according to court documents.

He also told police he felt guilty about what had happened.

A Level 1 felony carries a sentence between 20 and 40 years upon conviction.

Perdomo was booked into the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown at 6:32 a.m. Monday and was being held without bond pending his initial hearing.
