A competition is underway to help local people in need of food.

Tyler Henkle, who organized the Day 50 50 event in the summer, has teamed with Ashley and Brittany Hankins of Blush & Brush Beauty Bar in downtown Seymour to do a canned food drive.

Now through Nov. 21, people can drop off donations at Blush & Brush Beauty Bar, 115 W. Second St., or Country Inn, 2105 S. County Road 750E, Dudleytown.

Everything donated will be given to various organizations, including Anchor House Family Assistance Center and Pantry, Community Provisions of Jackson County Inc. and The Alley, and also local families in need.

Between Henkle and the Hankins sisters, whoever collects the least amount of items will have to run the Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning while wearing a turkey costume.
