The Jackson County Plan Commission will conduct a public hearing on a petition to vacate a portion of Virgil Steinker Road during a meeting at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the courthouse annex, 220 E. Walnut St., Brownstown.

Jackson County Commissioners are the petitioners for the request, which would see the vacation of 3,997 feet of the road west of County Road 900E. The road, which has not been maintained by the county, runs west underneath Interstate 65 to near Cypress Lake.

The nine-member plan commission will forward the request with either a favorable or unfavorable approval or without approval to county commissioners for final approval.

Plan commission meetings are open to the public and press.
