National award-winning children’s singer and songwriter, Eric Ode, visited some elementary schools in the Seymour area in November.

The author and poet engages students with his upbeat, high-participation programs. He also tries to make school programs fun with his interactive music, stories, skits, poetry, props and puppets.

He visited Seymour-Jackson Elementary, Emerson Elementary, St. Ambrose Catholic School, Margaret R. Brown Elementary, Redding Elementary and Cortland Elementary schools.

A former elementary school teacher of 12 years with a masters degree in educational technology, Ode has been invited to share his music and poetry programs with schools, community festivals, libraries and churches throughout the United States and in Germany, Japan and Guam.

His original music has been heard on children’s radio programs across the country, on many compilation albums, and on the PBS series Dragonfly TV.

Ode says he has always lived in Washington State on the west side of the mountains. He said it’s a wonderful place to be and no matter where he travels, he is always happy to return home.
