State District 69 Rep. Jim Lucas, R-Seymour, recently was reappointed to serve as the vice chairman of the House Select Committee on Government Reduction.

Lucas also was reappointed to the House Education Committee, the House Public Policy Committee and the House Elections and Apportionment Committee.

“The committee process for potential new laws is imperative,” Lucas said in a news release. “Committee members can hear public testimony and ensure that the best legislation makes it before the full House for further consideration."

Standing committee assignments are made biennially after each election. House lawmakers will convene at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 3 in the House Chamber for the first day of the 2019 legislative session.

District 69 includes portions of Bartholomew, Jackson, Jennings and Jefferson counties.
