Cougars end losing streak

VEVAY

Trinity Lutheran’s six-game skid game to a halt Friday, with the Cougars picking up a 75-61 win at Switzerland County.

The Cougars led 32-31 at halftime before limiting the Pacers to eight points in the third quarter.

In a shootout of a fourth quarter, the Cougars outscored the Pacers 30-22.

Jack Marksberry led the Cougars with 20 points on four made 3-pointers. A.J. and Tyler Goecker each added 15 points and Mitchell Hackman scored 12.

The Cougars (2-6) travel to Jac-Cen-Del tonight.

Hornets fall to Bulldogs

MEDORA — Orleans beat Medora 58-49 Friday, handing the Hornets a fourth consecutive loss.

Owen Sullivan led the Hornets with 26 points and Keaton Seniours added 13.

The Hornets (1-7) will host Shoals tonight.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Tigers drop Hilltoppers

MADISON — A strong defensive effort in the fourth quarter helped propel Crothersville past Shawe Memorial Friday.

The Tigers scored 14 points in the final eight minutes while holding the Hilltoppers to five for a 58-46 win.

Maddie Riley led the Tigers with 16 points, Grace Wilson scored 12, Nihna Burton had 10 and Piper Hensley had nine.

Hensley is five points shy of hit 1,000 for a career.

The Tigers (9-5) will go to Edinburgh Thursday.
