A 36-year-old Jennings County man faces two burglary charges in connection with an incident early Wednesday morning at Country Squire Lakes, police report.

Brian W. Hooten of North Vernon was arrested on the Level 5 felony charges after he was found inside a vehicle parked in a garage on Atkinson Circle, according to a news release from Chief Deputy David Turner with the Jennings County Sheriff’s Department.

The incident that led to Hooten’s arrest began after police responded at 2:37 a.m. Wednesday to a report of burglary of a garage on Townsend Place.

While officers were speaking to the property owner at that address, they received another dispatch of an alarm coming from a nearby residence on Atkinson Circle.

Once at that scene, Officer Doug Brown located Hooten inside a vehicle that was parked in the garage.

Hooten, who was taken into custody without incident, was booked into the Jennings County Jail and is being held on a $2,055 bond pending his initial court hearing.

A Level 5 felony is punishable by one to six years in prison upon conviction.
