Whitney Pottschmidt of Seymour is part of the select 40-member wind ensemble from Concordia University, Nebraska, that will be touring March 1 through 10 with stops in Indiana, Illinois and Kansas.

The ensemble is chosen from the more than 80 musicians in the symphonic band, which was formed in 1906 and is the oldest continuing musical organization at the university.

The ensemble will perform concerts at churches and high schools in six cities on its 10-day tour. Concert sites include Trinity Lutheran Church in Grand Island, Nebraska; Immanuel Lutheran Church in Norton, Kansas; Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Bellevue, Nebraska; Zion Lutheran Church in Marengo, Illinois; Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Avon, Indiana; St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Barrington, Illinois; and Messiah Lutheran Church in Lincoln, Nebraska.

This year’s tour program features David Holsinger’s "In the Spring at the Time When King’s Go Off to War," depicting King David’s army in its struggle against the Ammonites in 1 Chronicles 20:1-3.

The program also features Percy Grainger’s folk dance tune "Shepherd’s Hey," "Agnus Dei" and the march "El Capitan" by John Philip Sousa. Music by Gabriel Faure, Luther Henderson, Michael Giacchino and Reinhold Gliere complete the concert program.

The concerts are free and open to the public.
