Leaving a legacy

Thumbs-up to those who recently established the Tracy Bullard Memorial Endowment to provide an annual grant to the Boys and Girls Club of Seymour. That grant will help provide members with scholarships and other assistance to club members. The effort, which began after Bullard’s death Dec. 19, 2018, was led by Doug Prather, David Earley, Kevin Gabbard, Darrin Boas and Brett Sciarra, who came up with a list of people to send letters to asking for donations to the endowment. Bullard was a member of the club’s board of directors for 20 years and was awarded the National Service to Youth Award from Boys and Girls Club of America.

A return on reading

Thumbs-up to St. Ambrose Catholic School alumni Lauren Fleetwood, Chloe Baker and Abby Lemming who recently returned to the school to take part in a Read Across America Week activity at the Seymour school. By doing so, the three girls showed reading is just as important to them today as it was when they were students at the school. A related thumbs-up to Seymour City Councilman Matt Nicholson, Jackson County Sheriff Rick Meyer, Seymour firefighters Ryan Sterling and Mitch Noelker and Jackson County United Way employee Ashley Caceres, who joined the girls for the activity.
