State District 69 Rep. Jim Lucas, R-Seymour, recently welcomed several student pages to the Statehouse during the legislative session.

The following students from Jackson County were among those to serve as pages:

  • Sam Beavers of Brownstown, who attends Immanuel Lutheran School in Seymour
  • Hunter Day of Crothersville, who attends Crothersville Junior-Senior High School
  • Destiny Long of Freetown, who is homeschooled
  • Eric Long of Freetown, who is homeschooled
  • Isaac Long of Freetown, who is homeschooled

As House pages, these students toured the governor’s office, the House and Senate chambers and the Indiana Supreme Court. They also helped staff with their daily tasks and met with Lucas to learn more about the legislative process.

“The House page program is a great opportunity for local students,” Lucas said. “Serving as a page is beneficial for young Hoosiers hoping to become more informed and involved in their state government. I recommend taking advantage of this opportunity.”

Students between the ages of 13 and 18 who are interested in paging this legislative session can learn more and sign up at indianahouserepublicans.com/pageprogram. Participants receive an excused absence from school, and groups can request to page together.
