Jennings sheriff’s deputies, ISP, investigating shooting death

JENNINGS COUNTY — Jennings County Sheriff’s deputies and Indiana State Police are investigating the shooting death of a male in his early 20s in Country Squire Lakes on Monday night.

Jennings County Sheriff Kenny Freeman said deputies were called to the incident at 7 p.m. about a male being shot in his upper torso. The victim was found outside, Freeman said. Police have designated the death as a homicide, Freeman said. The identity of the victim is not being released at this time, Freeman said.

No one is in custody at this time in regards to the shooting, Freeman said.

Deputies and state troopers are still at the scene and may release more information about the incident this afternoon, Freeman said.

Jennings County Coroner Gene Rudicel said an autopsy on the victim is planned later today or possibly early Wednesday morning.
