Clerk-treasurer Kristine Hackman

» Why did you decide to run for clerk-treasurer?

Having worked at the city for the past five years, I’m proud to have been a part of the work that has been accomplished. The clerk-treasurer is tasked with the vital role in city government, one that helps guide city leaders with information to make the right decisions. I believe my experience and knowledge I’ve gained puts me in a position to undertake the task. I would like to see the clerk-treasurer’s office continue to serve the citizens and employees of the city, and I would like to take on the challenge in a new capacity as clerk-treasurer.

» What is your priority heading into office?

I would like to see the records more easily accessible to the citizens of Seymour. Continue to digitize the records and get rid of the mass of paper. Also, I would like to see cross-training in the staff and an update to the current payroll/accounting system.

» What experience do you have for this office?

I have been working in the clerk-treasurer’s office as the human resources director since 2014, so I am aware of the day-to-day operations of the office. I have had over 30 years of HR experience, which includes payroll and accounting functions. I feel that the experience and knowledge I have gained will greatly help in filling this position.

» How do you plan to make the office more accessible and user-friendly?

Create a searchable database of public records, which would be available to any citizen who is interested in researching any transaction, ordinance or other legal document involving the city. I will strive to continue to build positive relationships and a welcoming environment for our citizens and the employees of the city.
