The 1978 Seymour High School football team finished with a record of 9-1, tying the school record for victories in a single season. After losing the first game of the year to eventual state finalist Columbus East, the Owls went undefeated the rest of the season. The Owls won the South Central Conference Championship, but just missed a playoff berth by finishing third in the district standings.
