A 35-year-old Brownstown woman faces five drug charges after police said they recently purchased drugs from her.

Ashley Nicole Spurgeon was arrested Tuesday and faces a preliminary Level 5 felony charge of dealing in methamphetamine and preliminary Level 6 felony charges of possession of methamphetamine and a Schedule II drug.

She also faces preliminary Class A misdemeanors of possession of marijuana and a Schedule IV drug.

Seymour Detective Adam Surface said undercover officers purchased methamphetamine from Spurgeon recently at a Circle K in Seymour.

Police said she also was in possession of drugs at the time.

Police arrested Spurgeon on Tuesday afternoon near a fast food restaurant in the 400 block of Steven’s Way in Seymour.

“The investigation is ongoing, and more arrests are expected in this case,” Surface said.

Spurgeon was booked into the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown at 1:54 p.m. without bond.

A Level 5 felony is punishable between one and six years upon conviction. The advisory sentence is three years.
