Phi Beta Psi members meet at FOP

Twenty-one members of Theta Omega chapter Phi Beta Psi sorority put on their most festive Christmas outfit and met Dec. 16 at the Fraternal Order of Police Donald M. Winn Lodge 108 to “jingle and mingle.”

Officers Kalee Alberring, Desiree Hall and Janet Cooper served an Italian meal. Tables were decorated in holiday colors, and places were marked with individual favors.

The most festive honor went to Jennifer Payton. Hostess gifts went to Melanie Klakamp, Karen Schepman, Jamie Grinstead, Payton, Dana Brykett, Cori Vaughn, Michele Lewis, Jo Pfaffenberger, Rachel LeClaire, Doris Baurle, Karen Sutton and Sue Neaman.

Christmas socks stuffed full of miscellaneous items were exchanged. The annual Christmas ornament drawing was held. Those with secret sisters enjoyed displaying their gifts.

A short business meeting was conducted. Jackie Hill distributed the Feb. 1, 2020, dinner-dance tickets. The theme is “Run for the Roses” and will be at Pewter Hall in Brownstown. Social hour will begin at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m. and dancing from 8:30 p.m. to midnight with music provided by The Jackson Way.

Tickets are $75 per couple or $38 for single. All proceeds go to cancer research, the sorority’s national project. Dress in your derby attire and let’s race for a cure.

Schepman asked for donations for the sweetheart basket to be awarded during the dance.

Thank-you cards were read from David Baurle, recipient of the sorority’s 50/50 at the fall bingo who is undergoing cancer treatments, and the Boys and Girls Club of Seymour, which received food after the bingo. Proceeds from the bingo in the amount of $4,675 has been sent to the national project.

The next meeting will be Jan. 8 at San Marcos in Seymour. Invited guests will be the dance queen candidates, Kati Curry, Peyton Levine, Bridget Marshall, Allison O’Brien, Kate Snook and Laken Waskom, and their mothers.
