Financial aid professionals will be on hand from 2 to 4 p.m. Feb. 23 at many Ivy Tech Community College locations to assist students who want to file for financial student aid.

As part of College Goal Sunday, financial aid professionals will be available in Building B at Jennings County High School, 800 W. Walnut St., North Vernon, and in Poling Hall at the Columbus Learning Center, 4555 Central Ave., Columbus, to help students file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid. The FAFSA form is required for students to be considered for federal and state grants, scholarships and student loans.

Interested students who are younger than 24 may attend College Goal Sunday with their parents or guardians, who should bring completed IRS 1040 tax returns, W-2 forms and other income and benefits information. Students who were employed in the last year also should bring their tax and income information.

Families should apply for their U.S. Department of Education FSA identifications at fsaid.ed.gov before coming to College Goal Sunday.

Students who attend the event can be entered to win one of five $1,000 scholarships. Winners will be notified in March.

Students who are eligible for 21st Century Scholars funds must complete a FAFSA on time to receive the financial assistance.
