Eight cases of COVID-19 confirmed in county

The number of COVID-19 cases in Jackson County grew to eight with one new case reported Sunday.

At that time, no deaths from the virus had been reported, according to the Indiana State Department of Health’s 2019 novel coronavirus website coronavirus.in.gov.

Statewide, 1,786 positive cases of COVID-19 and 35 deaths from the virus had been reported through 11:59 p.m. Sunday. The state also is reporting 11,658 tests have been administered statewide. 

Marion County leads the state with confirmed cases of the virus with 804 and 12 deaths. Thirteen counties were reporting no confirmed cases through Sunday night.

Locally, Jennings County has 14 confirmed cases, followed by Bartholomew with 10, Lawrence nine, Washington six, Brown three and Scott one. The single case in Scott County resulted in death.
