A Seymour woman was found dead Friday afternoon pinned against a pool table by bricks from a chimney in her home on the south side of the city.

Police said Linda Russell, 81, was discovered by a family member after the accident. She and her husband, Donald H. Russell, shared the home in the 1600 block of South Walnut Street.

Seymour Police Department Officer Jeremy Helmsing said the fascia on a chimney gave way, allowing the bricks to fall. The weight of the bricks was so heavy, they were bending the pool table.

He said police were unable to determine a definitive reason for the accident.

Besides her husband, Linda Russell is survived by five sons, John (Vivian) Vinson, Donald E. Russell, Jeff (Margrette) Wilson, Joe Wilson and Mike Russell, and a daughter, Penny Russel. She also is survived by two brothers, Robert “Bob” Hatton of Seymour and Bill Hatton of Columbus.

A private funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Voss and Sons Funeral Service in Seymour with a live stream of the service available on the funeral home’s Facebook page. A recording of the service will be made available on the funeral home website and Facebook page following the service.
