A drive-thru food distribution for those 60 and older is scheduled for this weekend in Seymour.
The food box giveaway is designed for the Hispanic population in Jackson County; however, anyone who is 60 and above can receive a food box.
The event, sponsored by Thrive Alliance, will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Mi Casa Restaurante, 101 S. Broadway St., Seymour.
There will be 100 food boxes to give away, and it will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

Thrive Alliance recognizes there is food insecurity among seniors in Jackson County and the food pickup event is designed to help address and decrease that insecurity.
"The Hispanic food box will be a drive-thru setting, and people will stay in their cars," said Shelby Eggers, health care integrations and community education manager for Thrive Alliance. "They will bring the food to your car and load it up for the age 60 and up population."
Thrive Alliance’s community partners helping to make the event possible are Mexico Chiquito, Mi Casa Restaurante, Taco Mix, Morales Supermercado and Taqueria, Don Chuy/La Mexicana and Unidos Mini Mart.

The organization helps make communities better places to live throughout all stages of life by supporting healthy lifestyles and keeping people connected. Programs focus on issues related to affordable housing, caregiver support and services, nutrition and wellness programs, transportation and accessibility services.
