CROTHERSVILLE
Crothersville Junior-Senior High School will start the 2020-21 school year with a new principal.
Adam Robinson, who had been in that position since 2017, recently announced his resignation and said he has been hired as the new principal at Blue River Valley Junior-Senior High School northeast of New Castle.
The Crothersville opening has been posted on the school personnel job bank on the Indiana Department of Education’s website.
The deadline to apply for the full-time job is 3 p.m. Tuesday. Résumés should be emailed to [email protected].
Applicants must be certified and licensed as an administrator and be a highly qualified professional, according to the job qualifications listed on the website.
The website lists the starting date as Thursday.
This past Thursday, Robinson posted about his resignation on his Facebook page.
“Change is one of the scariest words in the English language,” he wrote. “Change means fear, it means uncertainty, but sometimes, it can mean stepping out of our comfort zone and seeing where life takes us.
For the past 15 years, Crothersville Junior-Senior High School has been my comfort zone.”
He said it’s a place that is and always will be at the center of his heart.
“I had hoped to be the one to say goodbye to you all, but when change happens, it is sometimes hard to contain,” he wrote. “I am so grateful for my Crothersville family, and as I recently told my staff, there isn’t a program out there that could hold the appreciation I have for them, both past and present.”
He also thanked the students.
“You have made this decision the hardest I have ever had to make, and for that, I am truly grateful,” Robinson said.
While the decision to leave was difficult, he said he is incredibly excited about this new chapter in his life. He starts his new job Tuesday.
“It is an absolutely beautiful school system just south of Muncie, Indiana, and I am eager to join the Viking community,” he said.
Robinson graduated from Brown County High School in 2000 and then obtained a Bachelor of Science in education from Indiana University in 2004.
When he was searching for a teaching job in 2005, Robinson found out about an opening at Crothersville. After a two-and-a-half-hour interview with then-Principal Tom Judd, Robinson was offered the job.
Early on, he taught four art classes. Once he obtained a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of Indianapolis in 2012, he was qualified to teach a dual credit visual communications class. Students in the Austin Crothersville Early College Initiative could take it to earn credits toward obtaining an associate degree from Ivy Tech Community College.
When he learned David Schill was retiring as principal after the 2016-17 school year, Robinson applied and was named interim principal.
Before the 2018-19 school year, the interim tag was removed.
Along with being principal, he also taught the visual communications class, received RISE certification to evaluate teachers, was a school safety specialist, served on the school improvement team and student assistance team and advised the Art Club and National Honor Society.
Under his leadership, the school shored up safety plans and procedures, incorporated new technologies, created a Community Closet for students to take items they need, was part of a coalition with six other school districts looking at best practices in education and created more graduation pathways for students.
