A recent donation from a Redding Township farm cut the Green Team’s lead in the Head to Head: Green vs. Red competition at the Community Foundation of Jackson County.

Mike Pfaffenberger with D and B Pfaffenberger and Sons Farms recently donated soybeans to the foundation’s Giving a Gift of Grain program. The gift was directed to the Jackson County Community Endowment, which helps finance the fall grant cycle.

The Pfaffenbergers have donated through the program in the past.

“It may sound like a cliché, but our family is committed to giving back,” Pfaffenberger said. “We’re blessed, good years or bad, and we feel the need to give back and help others. And if you can’t give this year with the harvest we’re having, I’m not sure when you would. Good or bad, we all need to give something.”

This year’s gift was directed to the Red Team. Anyone can donate to the friendly competition that pits supporters of those big green tractors versus supporters of those big red machines.

A $25 donation entitles the donor to cast one vote for their favorite equipment line. A $100 donation entitles the donor to five votes. You can vote by sending a check to P.O. Box 1231, Seymour, IN 47274 or by going online at cfjacksoncounty.org and clicking on the Donate Now button.

Right now, the Green Team leads with 68% of the vote. Its lead had been 98%.

The program allows farmers to donate grain to the foundation, which in turn sells the grain. Farmers can choose an existing fund in which to place the gift.

Participating grain elevators include Premier Ag in Cortland, Bundy Brothers in Medora, Rose Acre Farms in Cortland and Tampico Grain near Crothersville.
