County positivity rate below 15%

The state announced Monday that 4,161 Jackson County residents have tested positive for COVID-19, an increase of 14 from Sunday’s total.

Saturday saw nine Jackson County residents test positive for COVID-19 and 16 more Sunday.

The positivity rate for Jackson County is at 14.1%, a 1.2% decrease from Sunday’s 15.3% percentage, according to the Indiana State Department of Health’s COVID-19 dashboard.

The rate is determined by a seven-day moving average with a six-day lag to give time to receive comprehensive results. The current positivity rate for the county would be for Jan. 5 to 11.

Jackson County is classified as a level 3 county, meaning a red warning level for COVID-19 spread.

No new deaths attributed to COVID-19 were reported in Jackson County on Monday or over the weekend, meaning the death toll remains at 45.

There have been 38,887 tests administered to 16,169 individuals in the county since March 18, 2020, an increase of 155 from Sunday’s total.

The latest results were as of 11:59 p.m. Sunday. The coronavirus dashboard is updated at noon daily.

According to the ISDH’s Indiana COVID-19 vaccination dashboard, 1,630 or 3.7% of 44,231 Jackson County residents have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and 339 or 0.07% of county residents have been fully vaccinated.

This is an increase of 147 county residents receiving their first dose since Friday. Forty-seven more have been fully vaccinated.

Since Dec. 14, 302,609 Hoosiers have received their first dose, while 63,505 are fully vaccinated.

On Monday, 2,548 additional Hoosiers across the state were diagnosed with COVID-19 through testing at the ISDH, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and private laboratories.

This brings to 592,709 the total number of Hoosiers known to have had the novel coronavirus following corrections to the previous day’s total.

Indiana’s total number of deaths attributed to COVID-19 is 8,966 with 30 new deaths being reported Monday.

For the state, a total of 6,462,786 tests have been administered, an increase of 31,685 from Sunday’s total.
