The Indiana State Department of Health announced Friday that 4,928 Jackson County residents have tested positive for COVID-19, an increase of five from Thursday’s total.

The positivity rate for Jackson County is at 5.4%, a 0.1% decrease from Thursday’s 5.5%, according to the department’s COVID-19 dashboard.

The rate is determined by a seven-day moving average with a six-day lag to give time to receive comprehensive results. The current positivity rate for the county would be for April 3 to 9.

After an update to the ISDH’s county metrics map Wednesday, Jackson County is now classified as a level 1 county but still an orange level threat.

No new deaths attributed to COVID-19 were reported in Jackson County on Friday, meaning the county’s death toll remains at 69.

There have been 55,188 COVID tests administered to 18,584 individuals in the county since March 18, 2020, an increase of 283 from Thursday’s total.

The latest results are as of 11:59 p.m. Thursday. The coronavirus dashboard is updated at noon daily.

Also Friday, the state’s COVID-19 vaccination dashboard reported 12,560 or 28.3% of 44,231 Jackson County residents have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and 9,601 or 21.7% of county residents have been fully vaccinated.

In Jackson County, 977 residents have received the Johnson and Johnson vaccine.

Since Dec. 14, 2,119,408 Hoosiers have received their first dose, while 1,527,472 are fully vaccinated. There have been 132,159 Hoosiers who have received the Johnson and Johnson vaccine.

On Friday, 1,327 additional Hoosiers across the state were diagnosed with COVID-19 through testing at the ISDH, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and private laboratories.

This brings the total number of Hoosiers known to have had the novel coronavirus to 704,632 following corrections to the previous day’s total.

The state’s total number of deaths attributed to COVID-19 is 12,803 with 14 new deaths being reported Friday.

For the state, a total of 9,372,082 tests have been administered, an increase of 37,900 from Thursday’s total.
