Brownstown summer school calendar approved

The Brownstown Central Community School Corp. board of school trustees approved the 2021 summer school calendar during Tuesday night’s meeting.

The first session will be from 8 a.m. to noon June 1 to 16 for composition, U.S. government, U.S. history 1 and credit recovery at the high school and third grade reading at the elementary school.

Session 2 will be from 8 a.m. to noon June 17 to July 2 for genres literature, U.S. history 2 and credit recovery at the high school.

The third session is set for 8:45 a.m. to noon July 12 to 23 for sixth, seventh and eighth grade math and English/language arts at the middle school.

The fourth and final session will be from 8 a.m. to noon July 19 to 30 for grades 1 through 5 at the elementary school.

Superintendent Tim Taylor said the teaching positions will be posted, and he will have recommendations for the board at the next meeting, set for 7:30 p.m. May 11.

Already set are Richard Branaman leading combined sessions for marching band and Blake Hackman teaching supervised agricultural experience at varying times between June 1 and Aug. 5.

Each class must average a student enrollment of at least 15 for the class to be offered.
