A pilot experiencing engine trouble Friday evening near North Vernon landed his propeller driven aircraft on the grounds of St. Anne’s Golf Course.

The pilot, who was unhurt in the incident reported at 8:52 p.m., told North Vernon police officers he experienced engine trouble shortly after taking off from nearby North Vernon Municipal Airport.

He was able to put the single engine plane down just off the fairway of the first hole on the nearby golf course, according to a news release from North Vernon Sgt. Andrew Richmond.

Sgt. Todd Beam was able to provide an initial report to the Federal Aviation Administration and arrangements are being made with the North Vernon Airport director to remove the plane.
