Mrs. Buffey Sue Hatfield Smith, age 51, of Seymour, Indiana entered this life on June 14, 1969 in Jackson County, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of Jack Hatfield, Jr. and Charlotte Jean Robinson Bell. Buffey was raised in Seymour and Columbus communities and graduated in 1987 from Columbus East High School. She then attended Ball State University and then Central Bible College in Missouri. She was united in marriage on December 15, 1989 in Austin, Indiana to Richard D. Smith. This union of 31 years was blessed with sons, Donovan and Darrion. She worked early in life at Prestigious Affairs in sales for four years. Buffey worked for Wal-Mart Distribution Center in Seymour as the HR benefits clerk for 13 years. Buffey had last worked with Schneck Medical Center as a phlebotomist. She was a member of the Cornerstone Community Church in Seymour. Buffey and Richard served as directors for ten years the National Barrel Horse Association. Buffey loved cooking, dancing, working in her flowers, caring for her sons and going to all their events, and playing with and loving her grandson, Emerson. Buffey died on Thursday, April 22, 2021, at 3:57 a.m. at the Schneck Medical Center in Seymour, IN.

A LOVING FAMILY

Buffey will be missed by her loving husband of 31 years, Richard D. Smith of Seymour, Indiana; her loving sons, Donovan Smith and his fiancee, Heather of Hanover, Indiana, Darrion Smith of Seymour, Indiana; her beloved grandson, Emerson Riley Nay Smith of Hanover, Indiana; her heart broken mother, Charlotte Jean Robinson Bell of Seymour, Indiana; her brother, Chad E. Hatfield of Seymour, Indiana; her step brother, John Bell of Seymour, Indiana; her step sister, Julia Bell; her father in law and mother in law, Don and Lena Faye Smith of Scottsburg, Indiana; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by father, Jack Hatfield, Jr. died, December 18, 2020, her step mother, Debra Hatfield, died February 17, 2012, her step father, Larry Bell.

FUNERAL CEREMONY

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, April 26, 2021, at 7:00 pm, by Pastor Johnnie Spivey at the Cornerstone Community Church, 1088 Sarasota Drive in Seymour, Indiana. Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Pisgah Cemetery in Deputy, Indiana

VISITATION

Friends may visit Monday from 4:00 p.m. — 7:00 p.m. at the Cornerstone Community Church, 1088 Sarasota Drive in Seymour, Indiana.
