Brownstown’s Koch selected as Indiana Track and Field All-Star

Avery Koch isn’t quite done representing Brownstown Central’s track and field team just yet.

It was announced Thursday afternoon that Koch has been selected as anĀ Indiana Track and Field All-Star. The All-Star meet is scheduled to take place Saturday at Oliver College in Olivet, Michigan.

The Indiana All-Stars will square off against the Michigan All-Stars during the meet.

Koch will throw the discus (and potentially shot put) at the All-Star meet after an impressive senior season for the Braves. She accumulated the most points for Brownstown’s girls track and field team this season and was named the team’s most valuable athlete earlier this week at an awards program.

Koch won sectional this season in both the shot put and discus, and she won regional in the discus with a throw of 135’3″ to advance to the state meet for the first time in her career. Koch was fourth at regional in the shot put.

She finished 12th overall at the state meet June 5 at Ben Davis High School. Her regional throw was just short of the Brownstown school record, which is 138’2″.

Koch is committed to throwing at Belmont University. She will head there in the fall to study nursing, where she hopes to get her doctorate in five years.
