Public Notice

On or about January 22, 2010, the City of Seymour intends to apply to the Indiana Housing & Community Development Authority for a grant from the State Community Development Block Grant Program. This program is funded by Title I of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended. These funds are to be used for economic development, public facilities, and housing developments. The purpose of this application shall be for a homeowner repair and improvement grant program to assist homes within the Seymour city limits.

A public hearing will be held on Thursday, November 12 at 12:00 noon at the Seymour Community Center, 107-109 S. Chestnut St., Seymour, IN to provide citizens an opportunity to express their views on community development and housing needs, past community development and housing activities, and the proposed new rehabilitation grant program. In 2008, the city was awarded a Community Development Block Grant award for Homeowner Repair and Improvement, which the city is currently administering.

Records regarding the account of these beneficiaries and funds are available from the Seymour Clerk Treasurer, 301-309 N. Chestnut St., Seymour. Interested citizens are invited to provide comments regarding these issues either at the public hearing or by prior written statement. A plan to minimize displacement and provide assistance to those displaced has been prepared and is available to the public. The application will be available for review and comment on January 22, 2010.

Information concerning the proposed development may be obtained from the Mayor’s office at (812) 522-4020 from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
