VERNON — A man and a woman, both from North Vernon, were arrested in Jennings County Thursday on charges of manufacturing methamphetamine.

Valerie Littrell, 30, and Virgil Gillmer Jr., 37, were arrested on charges of manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of precursors for the manufacturing of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia. Littrell was wanted on an active warrant for failure to appear on a charge of driving while intoxicated, according to a news release from the Jennings County Sheriff’s Department.

According to a news release from the Indiana State Police, at around 12:57 a.m. Thursday Trooper Matthew Powell of the Indiana State Police, along with Jennings County deputies, went to 268 Crestwood Court, North Vernon. He was attempting to contact the registered owner of a vehicle he had pursued the previous day.

Several items associated with the manufacturing of methamphetamine were allegedly observed shortly after officers arrived at the residence.

Powell obtained a search warrant and with the assistance of Meth Lab Certified Master Trooper Martin Mead collected items associated with the manufacturing of methamphetamine. Some of the items collected included reaction vessels, anhydrous ammonia and other chemicals, according to the release.

Police were at the scene several hours cleaning up.
