God is still our provider

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

In Genesis 22 we see that Abraham had learned to trust God so completely, that he was convinced that God would keep his promise no matter what. Even if it meant raising his son from the dead, God could be counted on, regardless of the odds. In fact, Genesis 22:14 says, "Abraham called that place The Lord Will Provide." From time to time we all need to be reminded that God is still our provider and he can be trusted.

God can still provide for you in your time of need, no matter how great or how difficult that task may seem. Over and over again, Scripture confirms that God knows how to provide for his children. In our text we see that God knew exactly what Abraham needed. The name Abraham gave to this place would serve as a constant reminder that God met Abraham's need and he can take care of your needs as well. He is still the Lord our provider. You can rest assured that the God who made you still knows how to take care of you.

But there are times when we are not clear about what our needs really are. We think we need something when, in fact, we just really want something. The Bible says that God knows us better than we know ourselves. He knows our hearts. He knows our minds. He is the discerner of our thoughts and he knows the intent of our heart. He knows the real you. God knows you better than you know yourself. And you can be confident that he knows exactly what you need.

We must learn to trust him. Don't take matters into your own hands like Sarah and Abraham did in trying to solve God's problem before Isaac was born. When we take matters into our own hands, that's when we get into trouble and get outside of the will of God. He is more than able without your help. Be patient.

Ephesians 3:20 reminds us that he "is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine." Think about that! I have a wild imagination. I can ask and I can imagine that God can provide exactly what you need today (job, finances, a mate, an answer to a problem). There is nothing God cannot do. It is up to us to trust him.
